Regenerating Town Centres

Geraint’s passion is for town centres. He has led award-winning regeneration strategies for large urban centres such as Gloucester, Slough, Bath, Basingstoke and Weston-super-Mare, as well as market towns such as Taunton, Andover, Kidderminster, Chertsey, Keynsham, Bodmin and Newbury. He has led multi-disciplinary teams on major strategic projects, but knows the importance of delivering immediate change at the local scale.

Working with Communities

Geraint has extensive experience in community engagement, for town centre visioning, new communities and Local Plan strategies. Geraint has led workshops with officers, members, residents, students, community groups and business stakeholders in developing proposals.  He has facilitated Enquiry by Design events, design charrettes, workshops and public exhibitions to deliver public support for major new schemes. He has designed and analysed major on-line surveys delivering record numbers of responses.

Evidence-Led Placemaking

Geraint’s planning and economics background means he understands the importance of ensuring visions and masterplans have a strong evidence base. He has undertaken health checks, capacity studies, policy reviews and feasibility studies to ensure proposals are deliverable in the widest sense. His recent projects for Andover, Kidderminster, Chertsey and Newbury have all resulted in significant funding being awarded to deliver key projects.

New Communities

Geraint’s work for local authorities has included strategic advice on housing growth and delivery of sustainable urban extensions to support Local Plan development.   Geraint has also led the masterplanning of urban extensions, new communities and garden villages acting for landowners, Homes England, housebuilders such as Crest and mixed-use developers such as St. Modwen.

High profile projects include Tadpole Garden Village (Swindon), Buckover Garden Village, Chalgrove Airfield and Locking Parklands (Weston-Super-Mare).
